What documents do I need to get married?You will need to complete a "notice of intended marriage application form" and prove your identity with a birth certificate and/or passport and a driver's license or other photo ID. Go to the helpful information page and click on the links to find out more.

How old do I have to be to get married?You have to be 18+ years, or 16 years with parents or guardian's consent.

Where can I get married in Australia?You can get married anywhere in Australia, even a hot air balloon.

How long does the ceremony last?Generally most ceremonies last 20 minutes or longer. Once the legal requirements are fulfilled, you can tailor your ceremony to last longer.

Can I write my own Vows?Yes. There is a minimum legal requirement to be covered off, then you can personalise your vows to make them unique for you.

Can I have my pet at the ceremony?It's lovely to have your special pet to your wedding, but check with your wedding venue to make sure pets are allowed.
